The project involved the conversion of the former Aldobrandini stables for museum use. This required the seismic retrofitting of the building by means of a new steel and reinforced concrete frame system. The plaster was stabilized and a new steel truss added to tie the walls together and support a restored wooden roof. The architect then created two voids in the interior by inserting a three-story structure in the middle for service spaces. The new glass floor rests on a crude armature of structural steel. The new floor is supported by steel frames made of two coupled IPE sections.
